Default D/W Gavel of the Dervish

Concept:
Using a hammer or scythe is problematic without an IAS. Thankfully the Dervish has some IASes.

Dervish/Warrior
Level: 20

Mysticism: 12 (10+2)
Wind Prayers: 9 (8+1)
Hammer Mastery: 12

- Heart of Fury (Mysticism) <-- IAS
- Faithful Intervention (Mysticism)
- Whirling Charge (Wind Prayers) <-- IAS for downtime on Heart of Fury
- Devastating Hammer [Elite] (Hammer Mastery) <-- knockdown
- Crushing Blow (Hammer Mastery) <-- deep wound
- "On Your Knees!" (Warrior other) <-- recharge for Whirling Charge
- Test of Faith (Wind Prayers) <-- remove enchantments
- Sunspear Rebirth Signet ()

Sideboard:
- Earth Shaker [Elite] (Hammer Mastery) instead of Devastating Hammer since weakness isn't being used for anything
- Harrier's Grasp (Wind Prayers) instead of Test of Faith, for snaring
- Wild Blow (Warrior other) instead of Test of Faith, for stance breaking
Thrown out:
- Dwayna's Touch (Wind Prayers) instead of Test of Faith, as a self heal

I'd rather take Watchful Intervention, it's a larger heal and can be used on allies...

What's the benefit of this on a Dervish?

-knockdown
-deep wound that doesn't require an elite Reaper's Sweep/Wounding Strike
weakness
-not having to cancel flail every 10 seconds
-not having to worry about wasting adrenaline on Lions' Comfort
-having a primary attribute that does something without using skills

To be honest, I don't think that Dervishes need IAS SO MUCH. I prefer to use some combos, mostly consisting of 3 attacks. And if you're going for damage Reaper's Sweep is just amazing. Beside, Dervish has 2 great 1/4 attacks - Mystic Sweep and Eremite's Attack, which can deel a great amount of damage in short time.

But all in all, good try. I just don't like using something else than scythe while being a Dervish

Needs moar Heavy Blow and Fierce Blow.

I don't see this outplaying a regular dev hammer build.

Nah, doesn't have more survivability.
It's still in crappy dervish armour, and has one self-heal.
A hammer warrior could pack condition removals and Watch Yourself! (in PvE, anyways).

I really just think why.

What difference is this to a normal dev hammer build? Is there actually a point of this build apart from being different?

I agree on that point... buildspam much?

The build needs less of "On Your Kness!" and more Hammer skills.

A Warrior can knock down too.
Crushing Blow can be used by a Warrior...
That's why you use Frenzy in PvP. You still have 60 armor with that.
Lion's Comfort sucks.
And you have... 2 enchantments?

I do encourage versatility but something like this is just stupid...

I like the Whirling Charge + "On Your Knees!" idea, though. Maybe Bull's Strike will satisfy the knockdown requirement with a Scythe.

2 enchantments : 1 for whirling charge, one is an IAS.

No shit a warrior can knock down, hammer skills are from the warrior profession.

Frenzy = double damage, not -40 armor. Heal sig is -40 armor. Besides, when using a hammer you have only 80 armor unless using sentinel's.

What's ridiculous? the fact that they aren't cookiecutter or the same old thing everyone else is using?

Just t let you know I have a skill hit list of skills that don't see use. I do plan on hitting them all at some point. The skill in this one was On your Knees, which is inferior to renewing smash when you use a nonelite hammer knockdown.

I'm drafting up a different version of this with more hammer skills.

P.S. If the builds were fully revised I wouldn't bother posting them because I wouldn't need any suggestions...obviously. It's a forum for one reason, to discuss things.

================================================== =======.
Dervish/Warrior
Level: 20

Mysticism: 16 (12+4)
Hammer Mastery: 12

- Watchful Intervention (Mysticism) <-- as per Stormlord Alex's suggestions
- Avatar of Balthazar [Elite] (Mysticism)
- Eternal Aura (Sunspear Skill) <-- recharges Heart of Fury
- Heart of Fury (Mysticism)
- Hammer Bash (Hammer Mastery)
- Crushing Blow (Hammer Mastery)
- Irresistible Blow (Hammer Mastery) <-- deal with stance blocking
- Sunspear Rebirth Signet ()

Sideboard:
- Avatar of Grenth (Mysticism) instead of Avatar of Balthazar, for less survivability but more utility, in conjunction with Wild Blow (Warrior unlinked) instead of Irresistible Blow for an all out removal of defense
- Bull's Strike (Strength) instead of Irresistible Blow since it knocks down moving foes, which might be a problem in hard mode.
- Distracting Blow (Warrior Unlinked) instead of Irresistible Blow for interruption

Probably to be used sometime in the future, but not here:
- "None Shall Pass!" (Tactics) because of 45 recharge
- Counter Blow (Hammer Mastery) doesn't provide knockdown on demand, but useful against physical attackers

On your knees+Bull's Charge is win.

Look, why are you just posting inferior versions of other builds maladapted to the Dervish?

I have an amazing build that uses On Your Knees. I'm sure others do as well. This build is just taking a warrior build and letting a dervish poorly emulate it.
